harmony woods, a philadelphia-based band lead by sofia verbilla, simply put, are great.

verbilla tackles issue in her freshman release, nothing special such as significant (?) others, “the worst things”, and philadelphia living in such a vibrant and resounding way that her music really stuck with me.

now, preparing for their sophomore release, make yourself at home, (out october fourth via skeletal lighting), harmony woods dropped a new single, ghosts, a song that a. i’ve had on repeat since its release and b. makes me contemplate the meaning of life, in, like, a good way.

originally released on a demo in 2016, ghosts was de-done and remastered with a full band this time around, with verbilla stating “one day you will die / and only ghosts will be your friend”. being able to combine the future of death with the past of demons and ghosts is no small feat, but verbilla does it well. i’m excited for the full album release to hear more of verbilla’s musings and reflections.
